It all started as one college student’s skin care experiment.
Five years later, it’s a wild-crafted beauty revolution.
Find out about the origins of Batty’s Bath, the secret laboratory, and our commitment to inspiring self-esteem, confidence & kindness, for all…..
In the beginning…
… there was a ten-year old girl. With terrible acne. Like, friend-repelling, life-draining, joy-killing acne.
This little girl grew into a beautiful teenager — still riddled with acne. She tried every cream, ointment and prescription under the sun — including pills & harsh pharmaceuticals. Her skin became dry as a desert, cracked with chemicals. And yet, nothing worked.
This beautiful teenager became a college student, who secretly researched dermatological advancements & hung out in online skin care forums, when she was supposed to be “studying.” She became a self-created skin care expert, with thousands of hours of research lodged in her brain.
Then, one day, after a decade of frustration, this college student decided to start fresh — with a handful of pure, organic, blissfully natural ingredients she’d grown herself.
She watched, astonished, as her skin — and self-esteem — transformed.
And before long, requests were pouring in from friends, family, even her boyfriend — begging for her secret laboratory concoctions.
First, came the skin care collection and soaps. Then the hair care line. Then shimmery mineral makeup. And of course — mists, serums, and skin supporting tea.
She fulfilled order after order after order, watching her “accidental business” unfold.
And just like that …
… Batty’s Bath was born.
As you might have guessed, that intrepid college student was me — Jamie Sabot, aka “Batty.” Hello!:)
Founded in 2009, Batty’s Bath continues to grow & grow & grow (not unlike the tumbling bushes of mint that are over-taking my garden!)
I’ve brought a few friends & helpers on board over the years, but I (and now with the help of my team) still craft every single product by hand, with love.
Our commitment to planet-friendly, people-friendly & animal-friendly ingredients has been celebrated by several organizations — we are an approved partner of ecoLIVING London, registered with Health Canada and certified “cruelty-free” by the Leaping Bunny Program.
And speaking of bunnies (and dogs, cats & piglets…) a portion of our profits is joyfully donated to Ador-A-Bull Dog Rescue, Animal Aide, Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary and the Ontario SPCA. (We LOVE our charitable partners — it feels soooo good to give back.)
Being a full-time Botanical Alchemist & Sudsy Sorceress is a dream come true.
But there’s more to my story than soap suds & e-commerce.
I’m also an animal rights activist, a tree-hugging hippie, a proud Internet nerd, a former youth counselor, an artist, a writer, and a Survivor (with a capital S).
If you’d like to learn more about my personal backstory & mission, meander over here.
